Dear Friend:

The 2008 legislature ended in late May. Like every summer and fall, I am walking through our neighborhoods in House District 78. Visiting with voters like you, I try to convey how honored I’ve been to serve you over the past two sessions. Many of you responded to a survey, called or wrote to me in order to express your views or concerns. Your insight is greatly appreciated as I strive to represent our district in Oklahoma City. I remain dedicated to building and improving the public services that you count on to keep your families and loved ones safe and healthy. Thank you for your input and your help.

This summer, unlike most summers, many piles of dried tree debris left from the winter and spring storms remain drying at the curb. You have been patient waiting on city trucks and roofers with a wary eye towards the sky while we finish cleaning up from the results of extreme weather. I’ve found beautiful flower beds and many creative uses for “tree stumps and wood piles” over the past few weeks when I pass by your yards. I’m hoping for a peaceful period during the dog days of summer with just enough rain for a colorful fall and the start of local ball games.

There were over 3,000 bills introduced this session. Many fell by the wayside. Along with the bad bills that died for just cause were some good ideas that were either not right for the times or failed to garner the support that was deserved. We focused on how to increase healthcare coverage for our youngest, the aging, the disabled, and our military veterans. We continued to focus on improving our education systems to meet tomorrow’s global needs for our children’s generation and our state to prosper. We recognized that roads and bridges are the foundation of a healthy state economy and must be maintained.
