Summer 2010

The 52nd Session of the Legislature has come to a close!

It has been an honor to serve you. Your emails and calls are greatly appreciated. You have done an outstanding job keeping me informed and sharing your concerns and hopes for the future.

While economically this year was a challenge to overcome the $1billion shortfall in revenue, there were several issues that brought deliberation and debate. Over the four months we serve in Oklahoma City bills change content and meaning many times. I appreciate your patience while we seek to find the latest language, gather opinions and put your ideas into law.

In April, Oklahoma held a ceremony to honor those who lost their lives and those injured forever on the 15th anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing, April 19, 1995. The ceremony reminded us of the bravery displayed by Oklahomans to viewers across the nation and throughout the world when this act of terrorism struck our state. Today, the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum reflects the spirit of all associated with this event and the commitment of citizens in Oklahoma today who will continue to fight for our freedoms and peace in our homeland. http://www.oklahomacitynationalmemorial.org/

World War II Oklahoma Honor flights - http://oklahomahonorflights.org/
Visit this website. The goal is to help every WWII veteran visit the memorial in Washington DC – free. This is a great program whereby veterans can travel to Washington DC on a chartered flight (all in one day), visit the memorial and old friends. Please contact me or this website if you have a family member or neighbor who would like to make the trip. Special accommodations are made for those who need aid.

Some bills generate more excitement and conversations than others. To review the results of the 2010 Session Highlights and Overview: http://www.okhouse.gov/Information/Info_Publications.aspx
